Nocera. This morning the police seized, with the aim of confiscating, assets attributable to members of a Camorra clan, the Cuomos of Nocera Inferiore ended up at the center of an investigation by the Florence prosecutor's office for usury and other crimes, including association-related.

The Florence Public Prosecutor and the Florence Police Chief requested and obtained the asset prevention measure issued by the Preventive Measures Office of the Florence Court. A three-story building in Nocera Inferiore (Salerno), four cars, two motorcycles, bank accounts, a securities deposit, an investment fund, shares, and assets comprising the business assets of at least three companies linked to Luigi Cuomo, 40, currently incarcerated in Nuoro. The seizure also affects properties and accounts registered to his wife, Anna Eboli, and his son, Michele Cuomo.

The seizure is worth €500.000. The measure is based on provisions of the anti-mafia code and takes into account Luigi Cuomo's social dangerousness, based on the numerous criminal proceedings against him (some of which concluded with final sentences) since 2002.

In Florence, the Cuomo clan recently attempted territorial infiltration by establishing a base in the Tuscan capital equipped with weapons (at least five pistols) and ammunition, from which punitive expeditions were reportedly launched to target rivals in Nocera Inferiore. Formally, Luigi Cuomo owned a pizzeria in Florence that was hit by an arson attack on February 23, 2021, the result of conflicts within the group.

This unusual criminal action for the city of Florence prompted vigorous investigations by the police and the Guardia di Finanza which in September 2021 led to arrests and the discovery of the Cuomo family's plan to infiltrate Florence into the trade sector to launder dirty money from criminal activities and usury, and also by intercepting Covid funds.
