Campania regional councillor Vittoria Lettieri sent a note to the regional councillor for the Environment, Fulvio Bonavitacola, and to sector managers regarding the ruling of the Campania Regional Administrative Court. Napoli (n. 4370/2022) which accepts the requests of the Municipality of Acerra, declaring the responsibility of the Campania Region and to execute the sentence 437/2021 with which it was ascertained the obligation on the part of the Region to execute the operational agreement of 4 August 2009 regarding remediation, removal of waste and eco-bales as well as the return to the Municipality of the sums advanced for some waste removal interventions.
In her note, regional councilor Lettieri emphasizes to the assessor and the competent offices "to take note of the motivation of the sentence and monitor its execution, reporting on the activities implemented. This is certainly a complex matter from an administrative and bureaucratic perspective, and an extraordinary intervention by the Campania Region is necessary, without any delay, because the reclamation of the territory can no longer be postponed.
The remediation of sites indicated since 2009, certainly plays a strategic role in recovering areas compromised by contamination phenomena, potential risks for the environment and human health and constitutes an important opportunity for the redevelopment of a territorial area, to safeguard the environment and health and return the areas to their previous use. Just as it is good that in the future of Acerra and the Acerrani we avoid new environmental damages”.
