Capri. A tragedy at sea occurred this morning on the blue island. A 19-year-old man from Taranto, on a trip to Capri, died this morning on the public beach of Marina Grande.
The young man was found unconscious in the water, around 11:00, by another swimmer who immediately brought him back to shore, alerting the rescue services. The boy was on a trip to Capri with friends. According to an initial hypothesis, he was taken ill while swimming. The Capri Coast Guard is currently carrying out checks.
The lifeguards of the beach establishments, the personnel of the Port Authority and the 118 rescue teams intervened with the motorbike and the ambulance who immediately applied the resuscitation maneuvers, unfortunately in vain. The boy died during transport to the hospital.
The causes of death are being ascertained, among the very first hypotheses drowning following an illness. An investigation has been opened into the incident. The Capri Coast Guard, under the command of Lieutenant Emanuele Colombo, is proceeding with the checks of the case under the guidance of the competent Judicial Authority. The body is currently in the morgue of the hospital of Capri.
