The largest institute in Europe, the Salvia di Poggioreale, has been forgotten by the Institutions. This is now the order of the day.
A policy that is deaf and inattentive to the many critical issues reported several times by the trade unions and especially by the regional secretary of Campania AS.P.PE confederated CON.SI.PE Mr. Castaldo Luigi who has been sending messages of help for some time in favor of the women and men of the Penitentiary Police, a reality in collapse, just think of the prison overcrowding over 2200 inmates for a tolerable capacity of 1590 places, just know that out of approximately 910 penitentiary police officers expected, there are just over 700 in service, with a shortfall of over 200 units and so what happens?
It happens that a single prison police officer is forced to cover multiple service positions, it happens that the Penitentiary Police staff is unable to process the ordinary leave and therefore there is a backlog of over 30.000 days of co, all of which makes the work context nothing short of explosive to the point of collapse, given the strong imbalance between duties and subjective rights called into question.
For Castaldo Luigi, regional secretary of Campania AS.P.PE. of CON.SI.PE, a timely intervention by the Penitentiary Administration is urgently needed so that there is a substantial increase in Penitentiary Police personnel and at the same time there is a massive evacuation of inmates from Salvia, a Neapolitan penitentiary institute brought to its knees by the state of abandonment of a distracted and deaf Politics.
For Claudio Marcangeli national secretary of AS.P.PE confederate CON.SI.PE: the Italian penitentiary system risks collapse if the right measures are not adopted to make everyone's life safe, unfortunately the image of the Penitentiary Police Corps in recent times is undergoing serious attacks that are calling into question the prestige and efficiency of a State Corps such as that of the penitentiary police officers who unfortunately are on the front line to deal with the many critical issues that have been reported many times to the Institutions, but unfortunately to date still not concretely resolved.
The two unionists conclude: we wonder how we can talk about treatment and re-education given what is happening in many penitentiaries in the area, and then, we would not want there to be a hidden maneuver as asserted by an illustrious magistrate against the mafia like Dr. Gratteri who, brings into play the work of a State Body such as the Penitentiary Police, all of which would nullify the institutional mandate provided by Law 395/90 and penalize the work of approximately 40.000 penitentiary police officers who every day with a high sense of duty and strong team spirit commit themselves with so much sacrifice to maintain security in prisons for the protection of the collective interest.
