From what we understand, in the last few days the municipal administration has received numerous reports of damage to sacred images, including some decapitated Madonnas and offensive writings against religion. The administration has forwarded these reports to the Carabinieri who have started an investigation. One person has been identified and reported for these acts.
During the investigation, the Carabinieri also recovered the Madonnine statues stolen from the bench dedicated to Ciro, the boy who died in a tragic road accident. “We thank the Benemerita for her action, and we hope that there are no other fanatics who deface sacred images”, declares Mayor Natale.
