First the hailstorm that hit the Matese and the upper Caserta area on Thursday evening. Then, during the night, thunder, lightning, wind and rain across the entire province.

The people of Caserta woke up to a downpour. Around 4 this morning, Caserta and the surrounding towns were hit by a violent storm.

Many citizens were awakened by windows and doors banging due to the strong wind. Those who had gone to sleep suffering from the heat had to literally lock themselves in their homes. Many people who got up and looked out of the windows could see a whirlwind.
