Cicciano. He simulates a welcoming environment for goldfinches but controls a trap from a distance. 68-year-old reported by the Carabinieri.

The Carabinieri of the Marigliano Forestry Station, together with the Hunting and Zoofile Guards of the LIPU of Naples, discovered in Cicciano a garden set up to capture protected birds. Guided by the sound of two acoustic calls that reproduced the song of goldfinches, the soldiers found a net controlled remotely by a 68-year-old local man.

Close to the net, to attract the volatile, a pool of water had been created surrounded by sunflowers, thistles and seeds on the ground.

The man was sitting on a chair, hidden by a green tarpaulin, and was controlling the trap with a wire connected to a remote control.

In an aviary, 5 goldfinches and 2 serins had already been captured. The 68-year-old was reported for hunting theft and fined 400 euros. The birds were released while the equipment used was seized.
