Synopsis

The peaceful life of Massimo, a brilliant musician, and his wife Paola, a successful cardiologist, is soon shattered by unfortunate news that will quickly overturn their daily lives. The cycle of life and death, light and darkness, hope and pain intertwine and become distorted.

The happiness of expecting twins turns into challenge, fear, courage: a rare case is Paola's pregnancy, which mocks probabilities, statistics and medical knowledge. It's up to him to put the pieces back in the right place, fit relationships together, redefine boundaries, modulate words. But his is also a fight against time, against the wounded pride of a man trying to escape from the labyrinth he is a prisoner of. Massimo, in fact, after a sensational and terrifying discovery, is no longer able to distinguish reality from illusion. Everything smacks of appearance that hides the primordial deception. Who will pay for the choices made? And for how long?

“With the writing of Fino ad essere felici, which then became my first feature film, I focused on life stories in search of the happiness yet to come. This time with Sulle tue ossa, however, I wanted to investigate more closely the past and the places of internal memories, that is, that memory of the body that would allow me to write a somatic story. I started from a news story that I read two years ago to investigate every fragment of bodily memory capable of transcending death to the point of influencing the future of the living. I asked myself where the memories that have no voice were housed, the so-called “silent traumas” inscribed in the body that becomes the only means through which to narrate the dark side of marital, filial and friendship relationships. I am already working on the film adaptation of this novel. I am finishing the draft of the screenplay which has already attracted the interest of national productions and an American distributor. I plan to start filming in 2023”, explained Paolo Cipolletta.
