In Egypt, at Hurghada, a famous seaside resort on the Red Sea, two women died following theshark attack.

The Egyptian Ministry of the Environment confirmed the news on Facebook. One of the victims was a 68-year-old Austrian woman, likely a tourist, named Elizabeth Squire. She died of a heart attack from fright after the animal approached. The two women were swimming in the Sahel Hashish region, south of Hurghada.

An investigation has been opened into the tragedy to determine the circumstances of the incident. However, the nationality of the other victim has not been disclosed. Following the tragedy, the governor of the Red Sea region, Amr Hanafi, has ordered a halt to all human activity in the vicinity of the site of the attack. As a precaution and to allow for all investigations to be carried out.

There would be a video about the incident

Following the news on social media, many users began sharing a video (attached) of which, however, it was not possible to verify the authenticity, date or location.
In the video there would be a swimmer in difficulty then a blood stain disappeared. Red Sea sharks very rarely attack swimmers unless they exceed the authorized limits.

Previous shark attacks in the area included 2018, when a Czech tourist was attacked and killed by a shark off an Egyptian beach in the Red Sea, and in 2015 and 2010, when a German woman died and four other tourists were seriously injured in shark attacks off a beach in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt's most popular beach resort.
