Ercolano, new blow to the contraband lords by the Guardia di Finanza who arrested three people and seized 2 quintals of "Bionde".
The Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza of Naples has snapped the handcuffs on the wrists, between Portici and Ercolano, of 3 smugglers and seized over 2 quintals of cigarettes.
During the constant activity of general prevention and economic control of the territory, the patrols of the Guardia di Finanza Group of Nola noticed a vehicle leaving a parking lot, driven by a known smuggler.
After a prolonged chase, the subsequent inspection of the vehicle allowed the recovery of 60 kg of Marlboro Gold and Winston, as well as the key to a van, parked in the parcheggio near the Portici-Ercolano railway station, inside which another 148 kg. of Benson & Hedges, Winston and Marlboro Gold were discovered.
Overall, 208 kg of contraband cigarettes were seized and two 64-year-olds, one from Volla and one from Ercolano, and a 47-year-old from Ercolano, all with specific criminal records, were arrested in flagrante delicto.
The three smugglers were immediately tried and sentenced
Following the summary trial, those responsible were sentenced to one year and eight months in prison and to pay a fine of 693.000 euros.
Since the beginning of the year, the Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza of Naples has seized 163 tons of cigarettes, arrested 27 people, and reported 162 others.
