Ercolano between roots and traditions at the first edition: from 12 to 16 and on 21, 22 and 24 July theatrical shows and concerts to enhance the historical and naturalistic sites

Following the path already traced last year by the “Open” festival, a new event is taking place: organized by the Municipality of Ercolano with the contribution of the Metropolitan City of Naples, “Ercolano tra radici e tradizioni” has been underway since July 12 and will continue until the 24th under the artistic direction of Gigi Di Luca.

To enhance the union between roots and tradition through the sublimation of art, this is the mission of the festival: seven different locations among naturalistic, historical and architectural beauties invested, for the occasion, with an additional artistic-cultural value.

The program in question unfolds between music, theater and nature trails; in particular, four concerts are scheduled on the bill: the one last Tuesday at the Basilica of S. Maria a Pugliano with Ambrogio Sparagna and the Italian popular music orchestra; the show “Carosonamente” by Peppe Servillo & Solis String Quartet expected for tomorrow evening at the Parco Urbano del Miglio d'Oro; same location on July 22 for the jazz repertoire of Gegè Telesforo quintet while, to close the festival, on Sunday 24, an itinerary on Vesuvius will conclude with the live performance of Mimmo Maglionico & Pietrarsa.
There will be no shortage of theatrical and Tableaux Vivent shows (four in total): they will range from “Il mio nome è Maria”, a show balanced between music and theatre with Caterina Pontrandolfo and Rodolfo Medina (tonight at the Church of S. Maria di Loreto) to “Mamme” by Annibale Ruccello with Antonella Morea (on 21 July at Villa Ruggiero), passing through “La Conversione di un Cavallo, 23 Tableaux Vivants from the work of Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio” by the Compagnia Ludovica Rambelli Teatro (Wednesday 13 at the Church of S. Agostino) and “Stanze d'Identità Teatrale”, a travelling show directed by Gigi Di Luca, which will be held on 16 July in the seaside park at Villa Favorita.

“The festival will lead us to discover the roots and traditions of Ercolano. It will be eight days full of different events. Shows, concerts and theatrical performances that recall our traditions, and that will be held in exceptional locations – I am thinking, for example, of the Basilica of Pugliano, the Park on the sea of Villa Favorita that represent our religious and identity roots. Another extraordinary opportunity to visit our city and its beauties. We look forward to seeing you”. Ciro Buonajuto, Mayor of the Municipality of Ercolano.

“Eight events for seven different locations: 'Ercolano between roots and traditions', in continuity with the previous 'Open' with which it shares the necessary vision of a cultural program spread throughout the city's locations. Big names and concerts that alternate different musical genres: from popular to Neapolitan song by Renato Carosone up to jazz; and then the female theater with a journey into the human soul and the stories of a South that is love - bitter”. Gigi Di Luca, Artistic Director.

All shows are free admission until seats are taken.
