The 'Bread and Peasant Civilization Festival' Returns to Trentinara

The 'Bread and Peasant Civilization Festival' returns to Trentinara, from 27 to 31 July 2022 on the splendid terrace of Cilento.

The thought of walking along the stone-paved streets, admiring the portals dating back to the 18th-19th century, resurfaces as the sweetest of memories: the sensation will be that of entering the houses of the past where the celebration today is in the typical dishes, characterized by the craftsmanship of the housewives and the authenticity of the strictly local ingredients.

The "Bread Festival", in this particular historical moment, responds to a current and particularly important theme linked to the use of exclusively local wheat and flours. The expanses of ancient grains "senatore cappella" and "saragolla" give quality and tradition to an excellent bread.

The food and wine stands called "forni", with typical Trentino names, offer, in addition to bread, traditional dishes such as fusilli, cavatielli, mulegnama 'mbuttunate, fried pizzas, cured meats, cheeses, Cilento pizza, etc. The slow cooking, the frying, the taking out of the oven, floods the historic center with smells and images that transport the visitor into another temporal dimension.

The sounds are those of typicality and light-heartedness, which make them light, to dance and sing in the fields, sounds that will accompany visitors in the alleys, concerts which can be attended in the rich musical program in Piazza dei Martiri e degli Eroi:

There will be no shortage of cultural moments: it will be possible to enjoy a permanent painting exhibition by the artist Antonello L'Abbate, located in the Church of San Nicola, as well as meetings organized by the APS Trentinara "Storie e Parole - intorno al Grano" which will be held on the Terrazza del Cilento, during which the themes of bread, wheat, traditions and the importance of the products used during the festival will be discussed, which becomes a model of the Mediterranean diet.

Among the important guests who will enrich the meetings will be the presence of the poet and landscape expert Franco Arminio.
