Frattamaggiore. Nicola Lupoli is hospitalized at the Policlinico of Bari in a pharmacological coma.
Yesterday he was set on fire while he was on a video call with his girlfriend who lives in Casoria. He was doused with flammable liquid and then set on fire while, sitting on a bench, he was video calling his girlfriend. His attackers acted from behind while he was absorbed in talking to the girl.
It happened in Frattamaggiore, in viale Tiziano, Nicola Lupoli, 36 years old, who works as a cellar clearer together with his brother, was engulfed in flames in a few moments: his brother arrived on the scene and took him to the hospital in Frattamaggiore.
For him, burns on the body and very serious conditions. He was transferred to the major burns center of Cardarelli and then to the Policlinico of Bari; for him, reserved prognosis and pharmacological coma.
La video call in progress with his girlfriend – a detail reported by Il Mattino – could perhaps help trace the perpetrators of the raid. The woman explained that while the conversation was in progress, a shadow appeared from the darkness of the night, threw the liquid on the man and then lit the fire with a lighter.
Investigations into the motive. The man works as a 'cellar clearer'. The raid could be the consequence of some argument in the previous days, but no leads are excluded, such as one linked to the public housing racket.
