Giostra Cavalleresca di Sulmona, the traditional event returns after two years starting from Saturday 9th July

The traditional event of Sulmona returns in a renewed guise, going beyond the regional borders and taking on national and international characteristics

Calendar opens on Saturday 9th July with the vernissage of the personal exhibition “L'assoluta Libertà” by Giordano Floreancig curated by Alessandro Erra

There is a lot of Campania in the Giostra Cavalleresca di Sulmona, which returns after a two-year hiatus with an edition in which tradition meets contemporaneity and the highlight of the competition, which will take place on July 30 and 31, preceded by the costumed parade led by the Queen, will be preceded by a calendar of cultural events.

The organizers of the 2022 edition want to promote the Giostra Cavalleresca di Sulmona outside the regional borders, making it a strong tourist attraction, with the involvement of prestigious partners and to spread its history through the publication of a volume of photographs and stories, entrusted to the Neapolitan publishing house Rogiosi, founded by Rosario Bianco. Also of Neapolitan origins is the maison E. Marinella, which for the XXVI edition of the Giostra Cavalleresca di Sulmona has exclusively created the tie in plain blue silk gauze with under-knot detail of the new logo of the Giostra. On Sunday 17 July, at 21.00:60 pm, in the Courtyard of the Santissima Annunziata Complex, the screening of the docufilm “Una vetrina che guarda il mare” will be held, directed by Massimiliano Gallo, which tells the century-old story of one of the most beloved Made in Italy tailoring brands. Alessandro Iovino, director of Real Inside Magazine, narrates and moderates. Another Campania partner of the event is the food brand Rummo, which with the traditional and iconic “spaghettone” will be among the courses of the Panarda, a Renaissance dinner with 5 tastings curated by Chef Clemente Maiorano, which will take place on Friday XNUMX August, in Largo Palizzi in the Porta Manaresca district.

Some of the program's events were presented during a press conference held in the Council Chamber of the Municipality of Sulmona. The event was attended by Gianfranco Di Piero, Mayor of Sulmona; Maurizio Walter Vittorio Antonini, Acting Commissioner of the Sulmona Historical Joust Association; Rosario Bianco, Rogiosi Editore; Andrea De Capite, Mastrogiurato of the Sulmona Knightly Joust; Alessandro Erra, ERRA Art Galleries, curator of the exhibition "L'assoluta Libertà" (Absolute Freedom) and gallery owner of Giordano Floreancig; Giorgio Giangiulio, Ambassador of Italian Style and Made in Italy, representing the Chivalric Order of the Guardians of the Nine Gates; and Domenico Taglieri, President of the Savings Bank Foundation of the Province of L'Aquila.

The cultural program opens on Saturday, July 9th (vernissage at 21.00:2022 PM) with the opening of the exhibition "L'assoluta libertà" (Absolute Freedom) by Giordano Florenacig, the internationally renowned artist who created the 8 Palio. The exhibition features five large-scale paintings and four small-scale works, displayed in the Cappella SS del Corpo di Cristo, at the Santissima Annunziata Complex. Visitors to the Giostra can also admire six large-scale paintings and thirty medium- and small-scale works at the Rotonda San Francesco. Locals and tourists can admire the exhibition, curated by Alessandro Erra, until August 100th. The exhibition's partner is the Erra Gallery of Milan. Among the works will be two queens, one on a fuchsia background and one on a blue background, oil on canvas, 100x10 cm. The Queen on a Fuchsia Background will be donated by the artist and the gallery to the Municipality of Sulmona. The exhibition can be visited in both locations daily, from 12.30:16.30 am to 20.00:27 pm and from 8:28 pm to 21.00:6 pm. The Grande Fiera Storica Città di Sulmona (Great Historical Fair of the City of Sulmona) will open on Thursday, July 7th in the Villa Comunale, which will remain open until August XNUMXth. On Friday, July XNUMXth, at XNUMX:XNUMX pm, the courtyard of the Santissima Annunziata Complex will host the presentation of the book "Un male purissimo" (Rogiosi Editore) by Gennaro Marco Duello, a journalist with the Culture and Entertainment editorial team at Fanpage.it. The Giostra Cavalleresca d'Europa e dei Borghi più belli d'Italia (Joust of Europe and the Most Beautiful Villages of Italy) will take place on Saturday, August XNUMXth and Sunday, August XNUMXth.

The Giostra Cavalleresca di Sulmona is also renewed in its image and graphic design, with a high-impact visual communication project, conceived and created by Beatrice Gigli Communication, which was also entrusted with the management of the events, the press office and media relations, and Public Relations with the brands. Partners: Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio della Provincia dell'Aquila, Ciesse, E. Marinella, Rummo, Floid, Icobit, Proraso, Rogiosi Editore, San Pellegrino, Acqua Panna, Zoomarine.

In the next few days other events will be added to the calendar and will be published on the official website of the historic event: https://www.giostrasulmona.it/
