For Summer Brividi 2022, a weekend by Il Pozzo and Il Pendolo Teatro with Rosaria De Cicco and Paolo Cresta

It will be a weekend entirely signed Il Pozzo e il Pendolo Teatro, Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 July 2022 at 21.00 pm in the fascinating setting of the Real Orto Botanico di Napoli, which will see, respectively, Paolo Cresta bring to life the words of Alessandro Baricco, and Rosaria De Cicco those of Elena Ferrante, on stage as part of Brividi d'Estate 2022.

Born from an idea by Annamaria Russo, the original review, among the longest-running in the city and now in its twenty-first edition, is supported by the sensitivity and precious collaboration of the Federico II University of Naples, which manages the park, and with the patronage of the Municipality of Naples.

Until Saturday, August 6, the most beautiful park in Naples will be transformed into the most magical of theaters immersed in greenery, with a journey into the stories we loved the most.

The project for this twenty-first edition was born from the awareness that the difficulties of this journey towards the longed-for “normality” can only be overcome by thinking as a crew. Different people, with different stories and roles, aware that only a common effort can lead to the goal.

Paolo Cresta will bring to the stage, Saturday 16 July, Novecento by Alessandro Baricco, a heartbreaking, bitter, very sweet fairy tale. The story of an exceptional pianist, capable of playing wonderful music, a music that exists nowhere else but the ocean. His name is Novecento, his world is a ship from which he does not know how to get off. Because beyond that ship there is life. The real one.

And music, the one that “plays because the ocean is big and scary” is instead the only life he can imagine. It is a music that can play through eighty-eight keys, an infinite music through a finite instrument. The only music that Novecento knows how to play. The only life he can live.

It is a lacerating journey to the center of the soul, in the infernal circles of fears and insecurity, of pain and the past. The Days of Abandonment by Elena Ferrante with Rosaria De Cicco, adapted and directed by Annamaria Russo, on stage Sunday 17 July. Ferrante's words are splinters of life that tear the flesh, fragments that ask for a voice to find the meaning of a path.

To stage a book like this, we could only entrust to a single, powerful voice the chiaroscuro of a story that is the eternal story of denied love, in a tale that captures and drags us to the blackest, most painful depths of the female experience.
