Flegrean Chronicle. Today it was inaugurated in Pozzuoli a new building constructed from scratch within the Santa Maria delle Grazie Hospital complex. The new complex was built quickly (12 months after the start of work) and is built on a steel structure supported by a system of reinforced concrete pilings.
The intervention has allowed us to allocate new spaces to the Central 118 Napoli Ovest and to set up a new space on the ground floor, dedicated to the CUP service. The nurses and doctors who manage citizens' calls, send emergency vehicles (ambulances, medical cars, advanced emergency vehicles, hydroambulance, helicopter rescue) and support hospital doctors in finding beds for patients who need to be transferred will work at the new headquarters of the 118 operations center.
In 2021, the Napoli Ovest center handled 187.524 calls from citizens, implementing 31.933 interventions in the 32 municipalities under the jurisdiction of the ASL Napoli 2 Nord, including 10.917 red codes. The 118 Napoli Ovest service employs 390 nurses and drivers and 50 doctors who manage 7 medical cars, 30 ambulances, 2 hydroambulances and 2 advanced rescue electric minicars.
The new premises of the Central also include spaces to be used for the management of major emergency situations (for example major accidents, catastrophes, etc.) that require a greater number of central operators working simultaneously. The 118 central will be transferred immediately to the new headquarters for the portion relating to the administrative offices, while the full operation of the structure will be achieved by the first days of August.
