Two fires have been ongoing since this afternoon on Vesuvius and in the Salerno area.
The Civil Protection of the Campania Region is coordinating the activities to extinguish two large fires that are affecting Vesuvius, in the territory of Somma Vesuviana and a wooded area of the municipality of Pellezzano, in the province of Salerno.
In Somma Vesuviana, approximately two hectares of woodland are currently affected. The regional DOS (Firefighting Operations Director) has requested the Regional Operations Room (SORU) to activate two Campania Civil Protection helicopters , which are already on site and battling the flames from above.
Two teams of regional volunteers are present on the ground. Other volunteers from the forest fire service of the Region and Sma Campania are instead engaged in Pellezzano where the fight is taking place with the help of a helicopter of the regional Civil Protection.
