Fire on Mount Massico destroys dozens of beehives and hectares of olive trees. Damage yet to be quantified.
Late yesterday morning, shortly before 13:XNUMX p.m., a fire affected the territory of Piedimonte di Sessa Aurunca on Mount Massico. The fire destroyed several hectares of cultivated land, burning olive trees and brushwood.
Unfortunately, the fire also involved a series of beehives that were located a few meters away and which were largely destroyed before the firefighters could finally put out the fire.
To tame the flames, fueled by drought and driven by the wind, the Carabinieri of the Forestry Corps, the teams of Sma Campania and the Fire Brigade intervened with the coordination of the regional Civil Protection.
Damages to be quantified and the causes still to be clarified for the owners of the apiary. Solidarity with the Sidicini beekeepers from the association 'La voce dell'apicoltura' which with a short note urged maximum attention because the reckless gesture of the arsonist who does not care about the fate of the bees could happen again.
