Pollution Sarno, entrepreneur reported and 3 companies fined for a total amount of 4.034 euros.
Plants not compliant with environmental regulations: an entrepreneur reported and three administrative sanctions imposed. This is the result of a series of checks carried out by the Carabinieri of the environmental protection and ecological transition group of Naples and by the Carabinieri Forestali groups of Naples and Salerno on the major canning industries located upstream and downstream of the purification plant of Scafati (Salerno), considered to have a particular impact on nature during the tomato processing campaign.
The checks, which are part of the investigations aimed at determining the causes of pollution of the Sarno river, concerned in particular five canning companies whose activities are located between the provinces of Naples and Salerno and allowed to ascertain the non-compliance of three of them with the environmental laws currently in force. An entrepreneur was reported at liberty for not having respected the provisions dictated in the integrated environmental authorization, while three administrative sanctions were imposed, for a total amount of 4.034 euros.
“The verification activities on the production activities falling within the Samo River basin – explain the Torre Annunziata Prosecutor's Office, involved in the investigations – launched in the summer of 2020, have so far led to the control of 454 companies, the execution of 76 seizures, the application of personal precautionary measures against seven people and the reporting at liberty of 264 people for the crimes of environmental pollution, illegal discharges, illegal waste management and unauthorized emissions into the atmosphere, as well as the imposition of 70 administrative sanctions for a total amount of approximately 264.000 euros”.
