Kalidou Koulibaly said goodbye to Napoli after eight years with many regrets. The Senegalese defender shared his farewell message to Napoli on Instagram in the afternoon: a special video, with many characteristic images of the city, and an emotional text. The defender is flying towards the United States, where he will join Chelsea on their summer tour.

“June 1, 2014, an unforgettable date: my arrival in Naples, the beginning of a story of pure love,” writes the Senegalese. “I was a shy boy, but with a strong desire to prove to the world that I could do it! Victories, defeats, joys, disappointments. So many emotions experienced at once: impossible to summarize. But I keep it all: in my mind, in my heart.

My two children were born in Naples. I met people who will forever be a part of my life and who made me and my family feel at home: from the first to the last moment. Thanks to you, Naples, I have become the man I am today. Thanks to the club, the President, the coaches, all my teammates, and everyone I have had the pleasure of working with over the years.

Thank you, Naples and Neapolitans, for all the love we have given each other. I am proud to have honored you with all my heart, and I will continue, forever, to carry you in my heart and to nourish for you one of the most important feelings in my life: respect.
