Supario on "Writer's Week," remembering Michele Prisco. Torre Annunziata is planning a second edition.

Curtain up on the first edition of “Writer’s Week, Remembering Michele Prisco”, the cultural event that took place in Torre Annunziata from 27 June to 02 July.

The event was conceived by the Libertà bookshop, which entrusted the artistic direction to the writer Francesco Paolo Oreste.

The following people contributed to defining the programme and organising the events: Michele Prisco Study Centre, Nuovevoci Literary Café, Eldorado Lido, Biesse Social Bene Cultural Association, Metropolitan Poetry Cultural Association, Magicfree srl, Don Pietro Ottena Association with Cripta Project, Club Napoli Poggiomarino Cu tutt 'o core, the Ubuntu Association, Arev – Od Widespread Hospitality, the Torre Annunziata Archeoclub, the Hirondelle theatre company and the bookshop reading group.

The grand finale took place at the Eldorado lido with the journalist Giuliana Sgrena, who, prompted by her latest book “Donne truffate. Il velo come religione, identità e libertà”, talked about the condition of Afghan women, not without a reflection on the compromise of the right to voluntary termination of pregnancy. Guests of the final day also Fulvio Benelli and Cristiano Barbarossa, authors of “Crimine Infinito”.

Francis Paul Orestes he comments on the closing as follows:

“We hosted well-known and lesser-known authors, with attention to the content and input that could derive from it. We launched an impromptu painting event that involved many young people. With Corrado Ferlaino we retraced the myth of Maradona and the escalation of a great Naples and then ended up, the following evening, singing on the beach, with many cosplayers, the songs of Cristina D'Avena. Fiction, civil commitment, theater, painting, pop culture, and above all hospitality, entertainment, conviviality. We made our own a format that Michele Prisco invented at different times and in different ways, but with the same objectives as us: to liven up Torre Annunziata, the sleeping province. People followed us, appreciated us and urged us to plan the second edition right away. A positive outcome, we bring home many satisfactions and many solicitations”.

There are also many unscheduled events, to name a few: the visit to the exhibition “Art and sensuality in the houses of Pompeii” at the Excavations with the writer Gianni Solla or the visit to the Museum of Identity in Torre Annunziata with the showman Amedeo Colella, who then ended up tasting zeppole and panzarotti. Unscheduled events designed to bring the city closer to its guests and to fuel the sense of conviviality and hospitality that were and are at the heart of Michele Prisco's format and that the bookshop has modernized and adapted to the present.

“Liberty bookshop is experiencing a second life, a new season after the pandemic, we are trying to ferry it towards the future. A future that certainly intersects with the synergies born this week. There is a group ready to relate and make their contribution to make Libertà a place of community, a forge, a laboratory of ideas and cultural proposals, mixing genres and sectors” conclude Fabio Cannavale and Rosaria Vitulano from the bookshop.
