Italy wins Times Awards as the world's best destination for the sixth consecutive year.

For the sixth consecutive year, Italy wins the Best Destination Country and Best Hotel awards (with the Hotel Feltrinelli sul Garda). Half a million readers of the Times voted the Bel Paese as the best destination. This is a public of demanding and high-spending travelers. This is the profile of the typical Englishman who prefers Italy, according to the 16 million monthly readers of the Times.

The event is considered one of the most prestigious awards in the travel industry and celebrates the winners voted for by readers of News UK, the publishing group that includes The Times, The Sunday Times and The Sun.

The awards are assigned through a reader-voting system to the most important stakeholders in the world of tourism and to tourist destinations such as: favorite city, favorite country, best tour operator, best cruise company. This year also introduced an award for sustainability and for the best emerging destination.

The ranking that earned Italy this prestigious recognition is based on readers' opinions. In the same category best country in second place the United Kingdom and in third place Greece.
