The court of Santa Maria Capua Vetere he excluded the mafia aggravating circumstance and declared the statute of limitations for the eight defendants in the trial for a round of "bribes" at the ASL of Caserta which saw as a central figure the entrepreneur Angelo Grillo, believed to be close to the Belforte clan.

Prescription for Grillo himself and for the former mayor of Caserta and former ASL manager Giuseppe Gasparin, for the other former manager of the ASL of Caserta Raffaele Crisci, for the ASL employee Chiara Bonacci, for the entrepreneur Giovanni Cavallero and for three of Grillo's collaborators.

The District Anti-Mafia Directorate of Naples, which conducted the investigations and supported the prosecution in the trial with the deputy Luigi Landolfi, had requested heavy sentences, between eight and twelve years, for Grillo himself, and former politicians and top officials of the ASL of Caserta, invoking Grillo's closeness to the Belforte clan, which emerged in numerous trials; according to the prosecution, Grillo would have paid ASL officials money and gifts, including pleasure trips to places like Sharm El Sheik, to have the health company settle the invoices for the services rendered by his company, which carried out cleaning inside hospitals of the ASL of Caserta; those invoices paid to Grillo before other entrepreneurs who were creditors of the ASL, according to the DDA, were favors done to the Belforte clan of Marcianise.

But the judging panel did not share this thesis, dropping, as requested by the defendants' lawyers (in the staff Vittorio Giaquinto, Massimo Garofalo, Camillo Irace), the mafia aggravating circumstance that the DDA had contested alongside corruption crimes; once the aggravating circumstance had fallen, the "axe" of the statute of limitations was triggered, as too much time had passed since the commission of the facts (from 2008 to 2012).
