Naples. Two tourists robbed of a Rolex but it is fake and he returns it. It happened in Naples in Piazza Trieste e Trento on Sunday evening. The video surveillance images of a private business recorded the scene of a robbery that took place before the incredulous eyes of the customers of a bar. The victims of the robbery were two Swiss tourists who were sitting at a table in a bar in the central square a few steps from the San Carlo theater and Piazza Plebiscito.
A man got out of an SUV parked a few meters away from the bar, gun in hand, and pointed the gun at the temple of a Swiss tourist. He ordered him to hand over the watch he was wearing.
The victim did not resist and handed over the watch, a flashy Rolex.
What happened next seems incredible. A few minutes after the robbery, while the still shaken victims were looking for help and the bar owner was calling the police, a young man - also with his face uncovered - approached the victims and returned the watch. The robbers, in fact, realized that the Rolex was fake and therefore impossible to sell and resell. Hence the decision to return it.
The images of the episode seem like a scene from a movie but what leaves you speechless is that the robbers acted in the center of the city with their faces uncovered and undisturbed. Under the incredulous gaze of the bar patrons and passers-by, a scene of ordinary violence took place, captured only by the images of the video surveillance camera of a private business, since the public cameras were turned off.
The mayor of Naples, Gaetano Manfredi, intervened on the issue of security: "The issue of security must be addressed on the one hand with the control of the territory and with a better organization of the police forces but also with actions on video surveillance that we are implementing and in the coming months we will have concrete results because there will be investments both in maintenance and in the installation of new cameras", reassures the mayor of Naples, Gaetano Manfredi.
“The issue of robberies is not just Neapolitan: we see it in all the big cities, even in Milan,” says Manfredi. He reiterates that “urban security is one of the great priorities we have before us and there must be great attention from the central government.” Then the reassurance: “We have a continuous dialogue with the Prefecture and with the police to improve the presence especially in the areas most frequented by tourists. The security issue must be addressed on the one hand with the presence of the territory and with a better organization of the police forces but also with actions on video surveillance that we are putting in place.”
