Palma Campania, carousel collapsed: the manager investigated, safety checks. The collapse also touched a bumper car full of people.

The Nola Public Prosecutor's Office has opened a case on the collapse of the carousel that occurred last night in Palma Campania, and which caused about ten minor injuries. For the moment, the manager of the facility, a woman from Poggiomarino, a nearby town, is registered in the register of suspects - with the hypothesis of negligent injuries.

The Carabinieri are verifying compliance with safety measures, awaiting further technical surveys that explain the causes of the collapse. From what emerges from observing the site of the accident, the trunk of the carousel, a dozen meters high, would have uprooted from the ground, falling on one side and causing injuries both among the passengers who had climbed onto the moving seats, and among the spectators who remained on the ground. In the fall, the trunk grazed another of the attractions set up on site for the feast of the Madonna delle Grazie, a bumper car at that moment full of people.

The collapsed carousel, along with others, is located in an area at the entrance to the small town of Palma Campania, a few steps from the local Carabinieri barracks and a few hundred meters from the town hall.

The collapse of the carousel that occurred last night in via Querce in Palma Campania occurred when the new 'ride' had just begun, therefore with the seats in motion but not yet completely raised, and at a slower speed than would have happened a few seconds later. "It's a miracle that there were no victims," commented the residents of the neighborhood today, observing the tangle of sheet metal and seats.

The carousel, along with others, had been set up a few days earlier on the occasion of the feast of Our Lady of Grace, “who performed a miracle,” says an elderly woman, making the sign of the cross.

Among the injured, all adults except a 12-year-old girl who was taken to the Santobono pediatric hospital in Naples where she is under observation. The injuries are minor, mostly bruised, and there are no people in danger of life. Almost all were treated by ambulances on site, while those still under observation were taken to the hospitals of Nola, Nocera Inferiore and Sarno.
