Capua. Race against time to reopen the bridge flanked by another temporary one built by the Military Engineers: Bus and ambulance to assist the elderly
The work that Mayor Adolfo Villani has been coordinating since last Saturday to find a solution to the problem of the Roman bridge, closed following the first checks on the river structure, and carried out by the municipal technical office. The mayor has the situation under control, also acting as guarantor of the information that is promptly disseminated through institutional channels.
"Yesterday morning the first tests started with comforting news, the state of the two joints does not appear to be compromised - the mayor clarifies - samples are planned to have certain data and with a camera we will investigate the deepest parts. The hope - adds the mayor - is that the situation of the non-visible part is better than that revealed by the check on the outside of the arches. However, to understand whether the closure order will be able to
be revised at least in part, it will be necessary to wait for a safety assessment drawn up by an expert and a certification of the permissible load".
As for the health facility at Porta Roma, the manager of the ASL, Ferdinando Russo, responded positively to the request for an ambulance that will stop in the square of the Villa Fiorita clinic, which – thanks to Dr. Raffaella Sibillo, CEO and president of the Board of Directors – guaranteed logistical support to the operators.
Furthermore, Dr. Anna Russo, owner of the Pharmacy outside Porta Roma, confirmed the permanent opening, including Saturday and Sunday. Also yesterday, the meeting between the mayor and the sole director of Air Campania, Anthony Acconcia, took place, who gave his availability, subject to authorization from the Region, to make available a circular route connecting Porta Roma to the hamlet of Sant'Angelo and the city center. The commander of the Municipal Police, Carlo Ventriglia, is busy mapping out the route.
Today Adolfo Villani will be in the Region to meet with Air the president of the Transport Commission, Luca Cascone, the goal is to be able to activate the circular within a week.
“In the meeting at the Region – adds the mayor – we will also discuss other short and medium-term requests, such as the establishment of a permanent circular service for the outskirts of Capua regardless of the current emergency situation”.
Contacts are underway with the mayors of neighboring municipalities to organize a summit in the Region, to take stock of valid initiatives to strengthen mobility in the territory, interventions on the ordinary road system of alternative routes subject to an intensification of vehicular traffic in this phase, first of all the modernization of the Alifana railway, including the Sant'Angelo station and the elimination of level crossings up to the Santa Maria Capua Vetere station. The proposals put forward by the interested communities will also concern the design of the Capua - Santa Maria - Teverola - Aversa station tram line.
As for the Army's intervention, contacts are underway with the Military Engineers for the feasibility study of a temporary bridge. Difficulties have been reported for many elderly people, assisted by carers who live in the historic center and who cannot reach Porta Roma.
