Second appointment with the Charlot Award: new guests at Delle Arti in Salerno

The curtain rose yesterday (Sunday, July 10) at 20:1961 p.m., at the Cinema Teatro Delle Arti, on the XXXIV edition of the Charlot Award. The red ribbon, positioned in the foyer of the structure in via Guerino Grimaldi, was cut by the patron and artistic director Claudio Tortora, who then accompanied the audience to the cinema hall where the XNUMX film “Accattone” written and directed by Pasolini was screened, included in the mini film festival, created in collaboration with the Cineteca di Bologna, which this year is dedicated to the poet, writer, actor, screenwriter, playwright and director on the centenary of his birth.

After the repeat screening of the film “Accattone” today, the mini-festival dedicated to Pasolini continues with the second screening scheduled for Tuesday 12 and Wednesday 13 July, again at 20 pm and again with free admission until seats are taken.

“Uccellacci e Uccellini” is the film that will be shown in these two days, also included among the 100 Italian films to save. The 1966 film stars Totò and Ninetto Davoli and was produced by Alfredo Bini. The shooting of this film, the last starring Totò, was filmed between Assisi, Rome, Tuscania and Fiumicino airport. The soundtrack of the film was composed by Ennio Morricone and partly consists of arrangements of the duet “Bei Mannern welche Lieve fuhlen” from Mozart's “The Magic Flute”.

The film was a great critical success, but its commercial success was disappointing, so much so that it was the film with Totò that obtained the lowest takings ever. For his interpretation in this film Totò was awarded with a special mention at the Cannes Film Festival in 1966 and the Golden Globe again as best actor. The film won the Silver Ribbon for best leading actor (Totò) and one for best original story written by Pasolini himself.

THE OTHER SCREENINGS
The tribute to Pier Paolo Pasolini continues on 14/15 July with the screening of “Decameron”

CHARLOT BOOKS AND THEATRE PRIZE
The Charlot Libri Award will be presented to the philologist, writer and academic Federico Sanguineti, for the volume “Temi svolti di storia letteraria, ad uso di docenti e discenti”. The award ceremony will take place on July 27, at 21 pm, at the Arena del Mare. Following on the Charlot stage will be Dario Vergassola and Moni Ovadia (Charlot Teatro Award for Lifetime Achievement), who will offer the audience the show “A Jew, a Ligurian and Judaism”.

CHARLOTTE YOUNG
The anticipation is also growing for the evening dedicated to the “Charlot Giovani”. Selected from all over Italy by Gianluca Tortora and Alessio Tagliento, there will be seven young comedians who will take to the stage on the evening of July 20 (21 pm, free admission), at the Arena del Mare, ready to challenge each other with laughter. As always, the audience will decide the winner, while the technical jury will award the critics' prize. Accompanied by Villa per Bene who will host the evening, the following will take the stage: I doppiosenso (duo composed of Nunzio Amato Cicciano from Naples and Antonio Juliano from San Giuseppe Vesuviano), Emanuele Campasano from Pomigliano d'Arco, Chiara Anicito from Paternò (Catania), Massimiliano Samaritani called Max from Bareggio (Milan), Luisanna Vespa from Rome, the duo composed of Simone Gallo from Cecina (Li) and Andrea D'Andreagiovanni from Pescara, and Nikolas Albanese from Rho. Luca Virago will be the guest of the evening.

COMIC PERCEPTIONS
Still within the Charlot Giovani, another important event is the one with the workshops “Comic Perceptions” that will be held at the Teatro Delle Arti and that will be curated by Alessio Tagliento, author among other things of TV programs such as Zelig. The appointments, all free, will be for Tuesday 19 July from 17 pm to 20 pm, Wednesday 20 July from 10 am to 13 pm and Thursday 21 July from 17 pm to 20 pm.

All the evenings of the Charlot Award are free of charge until all seats are taken.
