On Wednesday, May 11, 2022, the Holy Father was honored with the 2022 Charlot Award, which has been awarded to protagonists of humor and comedy for 33 years. During the general audience on Wednesday, the delegation formed by Claudio Tortora, Gianni Sergio, Leonardo de Amicis and Paolo Logli went to Pope Francis. During the audience, His Holiness received from the hands of Eugene Chaplin, son of the illustrious Charlie Chaplin, the statuette of the great comedian symbol of the Charlot Award, exclaiming: “This is the true Patron Saint of Humor!”.
On July 29, that day and that award will be celebrated in an evening entitled “La Santa Allegrezza” in homage to one of the popular songs of the Salerno hinterland that more than any other has told of the almost natural coincidence between sanctity and happiness, between looking up to the sky and humor.
La Santa Allegrezza, written by Paolo Logli and conducted by Lorena Bianchetti, will be first of all a party with great guests, which will reach its climax with the awarding of the Charlot Award “Great Protagonists of the Show” to Riccardo Cocciante. Another highlight of a beautiful evening will be the extraordinary participation of Carlo Verdone, followed by that of maestro Leonardo de Amicis, who will move from the stage of Sanremo to the one in Salerno to conduct the Saverio Mercadante orchestra. Then, on stage, Simone Cristicchi will take turns to perform his greatest hits and “La Cura” in homage to Franco Battiato, Paolo Vallesi, unforgettable interpreter of “La forza della vita”, Amara, an established author of very famous songs such as “Che sia benedetta”, Piji, one of the most interesting singer-songwriters of recent years in memory of Giorgio Gaber, Claudia Campagnola, who will perform a Charlie Chaplin classic, Vittoriana de Amicis, the young soprano from L’Aquila who is now known throughout Europe, the Neapolitan Flo, who will have the task of re-reading “La Santa Allegrezza”, the great success of the Nuova Compagnia di Canto Popolare, and a big name on the Italian and international scene who will be kept as a surprise.
