San Giorgio a Cremano. In San Giorgio the works of redevelopment and improvement of the city have begun. The interventions have started especially in via St. George Vecchio, in the upper part of the territory, precisely in the stretch between the intersection with Via Gianturco and the Mother Church "Parrocchia di San Giorgio Vecchio", as well as along the stretch called "Via Ferdinando Russo".
This was announced by Mayor Giorgio Zinno who, in agreement with the Councilor for Public Works Eva Lambiase, has implemented this project which represents the most radical and complete part of the interventions after the resurfacing of the private sidewalk for public use on which the Administration has already intervened in 2020, as it represented a danger to public safety.
This second tranche of work includes:
– resurfacing the road with a bituminous mat and restoring horizontal road signs, thus making the road safer and more passable.
– energy efficiency with the regulatory adaptation of public lighting systems, in particular in the section between the intersection with Via Gianturco up to number 164. Activity that includes the installation of 27 poles and the same number of new lighting fixtures, strictly with LED technology, for energy saving.
– Finally, the paving stone sidewalk on the left side of Via San Giorgio Vecchio, in the section between the intersection with Via Gianturco and the intersection with Via Aldo Moro, will also be adjusted. This sidewalk was at ground level and therefore was a danger to pedestrians. Now it will be built from scratch and will be raised above the road surface, so as to be safer for everyone.
To allow for these works, pedestrian traffic has been banned in: via San Giorgio Vecchio, along the left shoulder of the carriageway (the section from the intersection of via Gianturco to the intersection with via Aldo Moro) until 18:00 on 13 August 2022.
The work will be completed by September. Meanwhile, work is also continuing on Via San Martino, as scheduled. These redevelopment interventions will also be completed by autumn.
