He finds a bag full of cash and goes around Naples to track down the owner, the story goes viral on social media.
The owners are a family of foreigners who take all their belongings with them when they leave the house for fear of being robbed.
There is great commotion in via Santa Teresa degli Scalzi, someone has abandoned a bag on a bench and, it is rumoured, that inside there are thousands of euros in cash.
Among the first to intercept the news is Pino Mobilia, owner of a lingerie shop in the area, who decides to act before some crafty person can get hold of the loot. So he leaves his shop, takes the bag, opens it and indeed inside he finds numerous banknotes, as well as gold objects. At the bottom of the bag there is also a wallet with the owner's documents inside.
At that point Pino decides that there is no more time to waste, he borrows a scooter and together with a friend reaches the address indicated on the documents found in the bag.
When they arrive at the place, however, they find only a little girl who calls her parents and says that they have not lost anything. But Pino is not discouraged, he shows the neighbors the document of the owner of the bag and they immediately recognize him, saying that it is a family of foreigners, honest workers, and that they are also expecting another child, but they have not lived there for some time.
Pino then returns to the scene of the crime and tries to ask if anyone knows these people. The post office staff, who are nearby, recognize the unfortunates as regular customers, who are then tracked down by phone. Pino is thus able to return the bag to the owners with all his belongings.
The family, in thanking their savior, then explained that at this moment they are in a difficult situation and, for safety, they prefer to take all their belongings with them.
They don't feel safe, they're afraid that someone might break into their house and steal all their belongings.
"This story breaks many of the stereotypes that grip our city. A story that speaks of great honesty, civic sense and above all respect for others - commented Francesco Emilio Borrelli, regional councilor of Europa Verde who was made aware of the story - many have commented negatively on social media, calling Pino a 'fool' or wondering where that money came from, imagining it was the result of some crime.
I, on the other hand, want to personally congratulate Pino, because he was the protagonist of an event that should be normal, but unfortunately not everyone would have behaved in the same way.
By returning the bag to a family that, as we understand, is not made up of criminals as some had thought, he has made a truly noble gesture. Without a doubt an example to follow, because only with respectful and supportive behavior can we build a Naples, a society, different and better”.
Thus Francesco Emilio Borrelli, regional councilor of Europa Verde.
