Salerno. The inter-force activity aimed at countering the reported recrudescence of the criminal phenomenon relating to the coastal strip of the Municipalities of Battipaglia, Eboli and Pontecagnano continues, according to the directives dictated by the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security by the Prefect of Salerno.
The State Police - and in particular the officers of the Battipaglia Police Station, of the Campania Crime Prevention Department - the military of the Carabinieri of the Eboli and Battipaglia Companies, and the men of the Guardia di Finanza of Salerno and Eboli, collaborated by the local Police of the Municipalities involved, carried out yesterday afternoon a series of checks with multiple purposes, which touched on all the most critical aspects of that coastal area: from illegal occupations, to drug trafficking, to illegal trade, clandestine immigration and prostitution.
Overall, the results of the operation were: 187 people checked, of which 33 with criminal records; 143 vehicles checked; 13 checkpoints carried out; 11 reports for complaints to the Highway Code; 4 searches carried out; 1 administrative detention for violations of the Highway Code; 1 administrative seizure for violations of the Highway Code; 2 driving licenses withdrawn; 2 expulsion orders against 2 Albanian citizens engaged in prostitution; In particular, the positions of foreign women caught during prostitution are being assessed, in order to qualify their conduct both from the point of view of possible criminal relevance, and from the point of view of activating preventive measures, aimed at preventing them from approaching those areas.
The attention paid to these behaviors - according to Police Chief Conticchio - must be maintained constant, as it is a phenomenon that strongly affects the tranquility of citizens and the many tourists present in this period and contributes to creating those gray areas that are so fertile for the progressive proliferation of other forms of crime that are even more serious and detrimental to public safety.
Precisely for this reason - as part of the strengthening of the State Police staff connected to the summer season ordered by the Department of Public Security - the Police Commissioner has aggregated to the P.S. Commissariat. of Battipaglia 10 police officers who will be employed exclusively in the daily prevention and control activities of the coastal strip.
