SorrentoSeventeen years have passed since the demolition order, and an illegal three-story structure built without any authorization has been demolished in an area with landscape and environmental constraints.
It happened to Sorrento, where – as reported by the Torre Annunziata Public Prosecutor's Office – the demolition of the building was carried out, which had a surface area of approximately 185 square metres and a total volume of almost 830 cubic metres, located in via Sant'Angelo, in an inaccessible area, along a slope and close to a precipice of approximately 50 metres.
As reported by the Oplonti Public Prosecutor's Office, the building "insisted on an area classified by stringent landscape and environmental constraints, falling entirely within the IB zone (natural environment protection areas) of the PUT and partly within the P4 zone (very high danger) of the Psai (river basin authority)".
During the demolition phases, it was discovered that, despite being on a cliff, the building (already intended for residential use) was completely devoid of foundations, with consequent danger to the safety of the occupants. "The execution of the demolitions of illegal buildings ordered by the judicial authority - explains in a note the Public Prosecutor of Torre Annunziata, Nunzio Fragliasso - represents, for the protection of the territory, an irreplaceable tool both in a repressive key, for the restoration of the violated environmental conditions, and in a preventive key, for the dissuasive effectiveness against illegal building".
In this specific case, the demolition was carried out directly by the owner, under a self-demolition regime, without advance payment of expenses by the interested Municipality and the Cassa Depositi e Prestiti.
