Uses, abuses and customs of one of the most popular social networks not only among the younger generations but also among the older generations. A journey in the company of some of the most trendy characters, for better or for worse: the screening of the short film previewed on Wednesday 27 July at the Faito Doc Festival.
All this is "I saw you there" TikTok”, the short film born from an idea by Gaetano Cuomo and Giovanni De Liguori that will be presented and screened out of competition as an absolute preview at the Faito Doc Festival, the international festival that this year reaches the milestone of fifteen editions, scheduled from 20 to 27 July 2022 and whose artistic direction is curated by Nathalie Rossetti and Turi Finocchiaro.
“T'aggio visto 'ncopp a Tik Tok” in just under ten minutes allows you to make a quick, fun and timely overview of some of the videos of the most popular Tiktokers from Campania: from the “star” Rita De Crescenzo to Armando Cobucci Sparadais (from Paestum); from Wonderpiera, famous for the Neapolitan dialect remake of James Brown's “I feel good” to Emilio Borrelli, Sandokan from Acerra; from the porn star from Pompei Valentina Nappi to the singer Gigione up to the comedian Francesco Paolantoni, who believes that “italics” – the slang born in Milan and made famous by Elisa Esposito – has been spoken for much longer in Pozzuoli.
And again: pseudo-Camorra members who emulate, or one might say “ape,” the characters of Gomorrah, right down to complete strangers who engage in dance routines, tell jokes, and illustrate their thoughts in search of a popularity that may never come.
“'In the future everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes': Andy Warhol's prophecy – says Giovanni De Liguori – finds its most direct and ferocious realization with TikTok videos, which give fame and notoriety to its most daring protagonists. With all that follows: followers, sponsors, envy, threats, criticism (the latter promptly retorted, always via Tik Tok). Beyond the folklore and the often bitter laughter, what comes out of it is probably the most real and merciless photograph of a large part of the real country”.
“We have been following Made in Naples videos every day for over a year,” echoes Gaetano Cuomo, “and we have come across content that is sometimes interesting, other times trashy. We like to conclude by saying that all in all, Neapolitans also burst onto Tik Tok with their innate creativity.”
