Torre Annunziata, 15 modified pedal-assisted bicycles seized and 51 fines issued for a total of 53 thousand euros.
Joint service in Torre Annunziata and Torre del Greco for the local Carabinieri companies. The focus of the controls are pedal-assisted bicycles. Vehicles that, if used irresponsibly or even modified, can be very dangerous both for those who drive them and for passers-by.
The military personnel of the Arma, thanks to the personnel of the Civil Motorization office, checked several bicycles that were "tested" on a roller bench for measuring speed.
15 centaurs were caught riding bikes that in reality – given their maximum speed – are considered scooters in all respects. The sanctions concern driving without the use of a helmet, without a license plate, without a circulation certificate or insurance coverage. Seven of these were also found to be without the required driving license.
The 15 vehicles were seized and in total 51 fines were contested for a sum of 53 thousand euros. The checks will continue in the coming days.
