A German tourist attacked and robbed of his Rolex in the Sanità district writes to our website asking for help getting back his grandmother's gift, offering a €1,000 reward.
It happened the other afternoon between Via Antonio Villari and Via San Nicandro. The robbers are called Nicholas Klei, 47 years old resident at Boosstrasse in Germany, fascinated by Naples and its historical and religious beauties, (it is his fourth trip to Naples) after having filed a formal complaint with the Carabinieri Stella company, he tells his misadventure like this.
“I love Naples and Italy, and the other afternoon while I was photographing a small altar at the intersection of Via Sanità a scooterist dressed in black stopped and threw me to the ground to snatch my watch. We fought on the ground for about 20 seconds, then he managed to get the better of me, he also broke my glasses and then ran away on the scooter”, says Nicolai.
And then she adds: “I screamed desperately several times as I fought with the robber on the ground for help. Unfortunately, or perhaps understandably, no one dared to help me. When it was all over, however, the neighbors took care of me, wiping the blood from minor wounds and giving me water. These people saved my faith in the goodness of Naples. It is a city that I love and appreciate. This is already my fourth stay.”
But Nicola explains why he cares so much about itclock stolen: “It is a 1973 Rolex Submariner. My grandmother bought it for me in 1989. At that time, due to their precarious condition, they were still affordable. It was the best and most lasting gift of my life. Since then I have worn it non-stop and have never taken it off, not even at night.

I associate it with the memory of my grandmother. Since then, the watch has increased significantly in value. This was of no relevance to me since I never intended to sell it, but rather to wear it until my death and then leave it in the family.”
And then Nicolai makes a reflection: “Of course, it would have been sensible not to wear it. But I had faith in you, Neapolitan citizens, and I also noticed that the city was developing better in recent years. It also happened during the day. Despite the accident, this faith was not disappointed. I firmly believe that the vast majority of Neapolitans are upright and decent people, just like the neighbors who later took care of me so well.
Now I ask for help to find the watch. Yesterday's attack shocked me deeply, it could have been worse for me. I find things like that incompatible with Italian values.
Please help me. I will be very grateful. I will give a tip to whoever gives me back my grandmother's watch, I offer 1000 euros”.
