Tragedy in the province of Verona, where a woman allegedly rebelled against the violence of her husband, who had recently married, and killed him by stabbing him and even with a hammer in their home, then going to turn herself in to the police.
It happened last night in Bussolengo, a town in the hinterland east of VERONA, on the road that leads to Lake Garda. At around 13.00:36 PM today, Edlaine Ferreira, 37, a woman of Brazilian origins, rang the bell of the local police station and said she had killed her husband Francesco Vetrioli, XNUMX, a truck driver by profession. Instructed to sit in the offices, the woman was received by the commander of the municipal police, Mauro Antoniazzi, to whom she confirmed and repeated the shocking confession.
“She was very agitated,” said Bussolengo Deputy Mayor Giovanni Amantia, who is in charge of security. “Our commander received her and asked her to confirm this story. She accompanied them to her home, opened the front door, and the officers had confirmation of what had happened.”
Her husband Francesco Vetrioli was found inside the house lying on the ground, with the signs of several stab wounds on his body. “I hit him in the heart,” Edlaine continued to the officers, telling them what she had done. According to an initial reconstruction, the woman hit her husband while he was sleeping with a hammer, then stabbed him three times in the back and twice in the chest. One stab hit the man in the heart.
The couple had gotten married in a civil ceremony just over three months ago, on April 2, right in Bussolengo, and had no children. The woman told the officers of a problematic cohabitation: "my husband - she said - beat me and cheated on me repeatedly".
“The neighbors didn’t know,” Amantia emphasized, “nor did social services ever receive reports of disagreements or problems. These are the situations in which you never know anything until the situation ‘explodes’ and escalates.” The carabinieri of the Provincial Investigative Unit of VERONA then arrived on site, carrying out investigations and collecting evidence, coordinated by the prosecutor on duty Claudio Boranga. The murder weapon that the woman indicated was a kitchen knife.
The military found him inside the couple's house. From an initial inspection of Francesco Vetrioli's body, there were numerous stab wounds, but a hammer was also found, with which Edlaine Ferreira allegedly attacked her husband, hitting him on the head. The motivations and dynamics will be further investigated by investigators and the judiciary. Boranga interviewed the woman at length in the Carabinieri barracks in Bussolengo. For now, the woman's story and confession reveal a small domestic hell that ended in a violent murder that perhaps arose at the end of an argument.
