Domestic Violence: Nephew Kidnaps and Beats Disabled Uncle, Then Posts Video Online

In Mottola in the province of Taranto yet another episode of domestic violence. A 25-year-old boy kidnapped and beat his 57-year-old uncle, with mental problems, and then posted videos of the abuse on the web. For this reason a 25-year-old was arrested by the Carabinieri in Mottola, in the Taranto area. The investigators came into possession of one of the videos that went viral in which a young man was beating, even with a stick, a person with evident mental problems.

By analyzing the material, the investigators were able to identify both the attacker, already known to the police, and the victim. And it was the boy who accompanied the police to the house where his uncle also lived. The kidnapped 57-year-old uncle was then found in a locked room. The man was in that room without even a bottle of water and without the possibility of being able to leave. Not even to go to the bathroom.

Also in the room, the Carabinieri found and seized the camera used to film the violence, and the stick filmed in the video and used to beat the disabled person. From the first surveys it was ascertained that the images from the camera in the room were visible live on the 25-year-old's cell phone.

Once free, the uncle was transported by 118 to the hospital in Castellaneta. His general health conditions are good, but various bruises were found on his body. The disabled uncle was taken in by the social services of the municipality of Mottola.
While the nephew, identified as the alleged perpetrator of the violence depicted in the video, was arrested on charges of mistreatment in the family and kidnapping. The carabinieri are deepening the investigation to try to understand the reasons that would have led the 25-year-old to harass and beat his uncle.
