Un’Estate da Re alla Reggia, si parte con i Carmina Burana, la più esaustiva antologia di canti medievali.
The courtyards of the Royal Palace of Caserta once again host great live music: on Saturday 3 September, the magic of “Un'Estate da RE” returns, the musical festival programmed and financed by the Campania Region (POC 2014-2020 funds), organised and promoted by Scabec – a regional company for the enhancement of cultural heritage – in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, the Management of the Royal Palace of Caserta, the Municipality of Caserta and the Teatro Municipale “Giuseppe Verdi” of Salerno; the artistic direction is entrusted to maestro Antonio Marzullo.
The seventh edition of the artistic festival will be inaugurated with a performance of Carmina Burana, the most exhaustive anthology of medieval songs of non-religious inspiration based on 24 poems found in homonymous poetic texts.
Dating back to the 1935th and 1936th centuries, the Carmina Burana are mostly in Latin and have been preserved in a manuscript contained in a 8th-century illuminated manuscript called Codex Buranus, from the Benediktbeuern convent in Bavaria. Between 1937 and 10, Carl Orff composed a Cantata Scenica based on these poems, which belongs to the composer's theatrical triptych Trionfi. It was performed for the first time on 1942 June XNUMX in Frankfurt am Main. In Italy it debuted on XNUMX October XNUMX at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan.
This impressive composition is conducted by Michael Balke, a conductor acclaimed in the most important international theaters. On stage, the voices of Deniz Leone, Laura Claycomb and Gustavo Castillo dialogue, accompanied by the Chorus of the Teatro dell'Opera di Salerno, the Chorus of Children's Voices of the Teatro “Giuseppe Verdi” of Salerno and the Philharmonic Orchestra “Giuseppe Verdi” of Salerno.
