Drugs from Campania to Perugia, 24 precautionary measures. Twelve in prison and seven under house arrest.
Since dawn today, with the use of around 100 soldiers, a major anti-drug operation has been underway conducted by the Carabinieri of the operational department-investigative nucleus of the provincial command of Perugia, who have executed an order for the application of personal precautionary measures issued by the investigating judge of the court of the Umbrian capital at the request of the local prosecutor's office, against 24 people (of which 12 are in prison custody, seven under house arrest, two are subject to the obligation to remain at home and three to sign in), considered "highly suspect", in competition and to varying degrees, of the crimes of possession and dealing of large quantities of heroin.
The operation was conducted with the support of the companies of Perugia, Città di Castello, Città della Pieve, Assisi and Spoleto, of the air component of the 16th helicopter unit of the Carabinieri of Rieti and of the first intervention units (Api) of Perugia. The activity also involved the territories of Giugliano in Campania (Naples) and Frignano (Caserta) and Rho (Milan), where the local Carabinieri commands carried out searches of suspects.
The investigations have allowed to identify the sources of supply of the drug that had the city of Perugia as its terminal: three distinct groups of Nigerian citizens - reports the prosecutor - would have operated to bring the drug from abroad and from the Campania area to then resell it, once processed, to compatriots who in turn refined the lower levels, made up of North African dealers, mostly Tunisian citizens operating in the municipalities of Perugia and surrounding areas, who dealt with the street sales, at any time of day or night using, to reach the meeting points, the most disparate means: the military monitored movements by car, on foot, by bike and even by scooter.
