Fend of the season for Im/npari, the new series of meetings of the blue nights of Cetara, dedicated to the most sensitive themes to give voice to the so-called different, in the literary, musical and scenic narratives proposed as food for thought.
During the third and final event, on Monday 29 August, at 21 pm, in Piazzale Grotta, the theme of physical disability will be addressed, attending the contemporary art theatre performance entitled Salvador Dalì: Yo soy un genio, curated by the Sobremesa Company, with Andrea Avagliano, Francesco Casaburi and Francesca Fedeli. A journey into the life of the famous Spanish artist who returns in his diaries and letters, in an unconventional reading. From the story of his youth in Figueras to his meetings in Paris with Mirò and Freud, from his apprenticeship at the Madrid Academy to his cinematic experiences with Buñuel, his unbridled dandyism, food, Parsifal and those full of admiration for Garcia Lorca, the horrors of the civil war, Spain, up to the narration of his great love, Gala. The show will be accompanied by the music of Vito Palazzo, on guitar.
Free admission.
Active since 2018, the Sobremesa Theatre Company crosses and merges different sensibilities and experiences, coming from prose and social inclusion theatre, from music, from the management and valorization of cultural heritage. The original vision of the group is the recombination of different artistic languages, both in the performative and authorial phase and the consequent re-proposal in unconventional theatrical spaces such as museums, archives and libraries.
“The last show closes the program of “Impari – In Pari”, the result of a socio-cultural turning point that Cetara wanted to start this year, thanks above all to the foresight of the Mayor, Fortunato Della Monica, in ensuring full membership in the National Network of Anti-Discrimination Public Administrations (RE.A.DY) for sexual orientation and gender identity.
Having been given the mandate for Equal Opportunities has therefore been a reason for reflection on the disparities that exist between peopleand – explains Cinzia Forcellino, councilor delegated to Culture and Equal Opportunities for the Municipality of Cetara, who adds: “As per the claim, Im/Npari wanted to replace that M with N, underlining how there are no labels capable of defining people and how “diversity” is only the result of mental constructs and cultural legacies that are difficult to circumvent and, therefore, to break down.
For this - keep it going - during a journey that touched on three fundamental themes such as homosexuality, gender-based and non-gender violence, and physical disability, I was able to fully experience the support of the entire municipal administration and, in particular, of the delegate for Tourism and Entertainment, Daniele Luigi D'Elia, with whom we have built a new way of understanding the culture and events of our country. We hope to repeat with other events, in an attempt to bring forward areas of discussion useful for stirring consciences”.
