There is chaos in Forza Italia in Campania over the choices of candidates for the next elections made by the national leaders of Berlusconi's party.

During a press conference this morning Domenico De Siano, Antonio Pentangelo, Marzia Ferraioli and Carlo Sarro declared their farewell to the Azzurri. All outgoing parliamentarians, all not running for re-election. This is what pushed the four to leave the party “the silence of the choices made by the top management of FI”.
"We believed until the end that we were candidates, because we had the word of the national coordinator Antonio Tajani. Instead, total silence, even now, after the delivery of the lists, no one has deigned to give us an explanation" explains Antonio Pentangelo, provincial coordinator of the Forza Italia party. “The only message received was at 19,59pm on Monday evening when we were informed that there were no seats in the proportional system”.
Forza Italia, Pentangelo: “It was a real execution”.
Then he goes heavy-handed but clarifies: “It was a real execution. Personally, I have never asked for a place in the proportional system, on the contrary. I would have accepted, as I also reiterated to the party, a race in the single-member constituency. But the issue here is not the re-candidacy. Because we would have also accepted it, but with a motivation that never arrived”.
Forza Italia, Carlo Sarro: “It has become a members’ club”.
The comment of the lawyer from Caserta was also very harsh, Carlo Sarro: "In all the regions, certain choices were made because this table operated without taking into account the interests of a community, of a population tied to certain values, but acted according to other interests. A sort of club was built and the club members then are chosen as candidates.”
"I can only be grateful to Berlusconi, thanks to Forza Italia I led the party in Campania and I was a member of parliament for several legislatures. But at the same time I must recognize that Forza Italia is Berlusconi and, if these things happen, it is because Berlusconi believed they could happen" he then reiterated Mimmo DeSiano, regional coordinator of the Azzurri for several years, joined a few weeks ago by the commissioner appointed by Rome Fulvio Martusciello.
