Giorgio Canali and Gennaro De Rosa guests of the XVI edition of Botteghe d'Autore. The final of the Award will be held on September 10th in Albanella (SA).
The Botteghe d'Autore Award has always aimed to enhance and promote songwriting in all its forms, giving space to emerging artists or those little known to the general public.
Now in its 16th edition, Botteghe d'Autore sees 11 participants from all over Italy in the final: acasadiUke (Castellabate – SA), Aftersat (Pozzuoli – NA), Battista (Avezzano – AQ), Gianluca Secco (Carpineto Romano – RM), Lula (Rome), Manutsa (Palermo), Matilde (Prato), Rituàl (Cosenza), Sgrò (Bologna), Sugar (Bovolone – VR), Zarat (Naples).
“This year too, the participants are all very heterogeneous among themselves – declares the artistic director Ivan Rufo – and all of excellent level. I must also say that, as often happens, it is always a shame to leave out of the competition some artists of value”.
Some finalists of previous editions have attracted attention from critics and the public over the years: we remember Avincola (Sanremo 2021), Gabriella Martinelli (Sanremo 2020), Mirkoeilcane (Sanremo 2018 and Targa Tenco Best Song of the Year 2018), Claudia Crabuzza (Targa Tenco Best album in dialect 2019), Francesca Incudine (Targa Tenco Best album in dialect 2018).
The guest of honor of the event will be Gennaro DeRosa, president and artistic director of Musica Contro le Mafie, an association of the Libera network (associations, names and numbers against the mafia) which for years, through music and musicians, has carried out a commitment not only "against" the mafia, corruption, criminal phenomena and those who fuel them, but profoundly "for": for social justice, for the search for truth, for the protection of rights, for transparent politics, for democratic legality based on equality, for a living and shared memory, for active and responsible citizenship.
It promotes, develops and spreads the culture of “legality” (not as an end but as a means to achieve justice) through activities related to the world of entertainment and artists who operate throughout the world.
Closing the 16th edition will be Giorgio Canali & RossoSolo, Italian guitarist, singer-songwriter, record producer and sound engineer.
It is in fact as a sound engineer that he comes to collaborate with Litfiba towards the second half of the eighties. The meeting with Gianni Maroccolo, bassist of the Florentine group, marks the beginning of a collaboration that lasts over the years, from the productions of Beau Geste, Timoria, CCCP, to the participation as a musician in "Epica Etica Etnica Pathos", the last album of the Emilian group and starting point of all subsequent projects together with Ferretti, Zamboni, Magnelli, Di Marco and Maroccolo himself, namely CSI, PGR and post-CSI. A tireless commuter between Italy and France, parallel to the birth and growth of CSI, he lives the Noir Désir adventure for five years, as a live and studio sound engineer of the transalpine band, developing a musical sensitivity that takes him back to the origins of punk and rock without frills.
In 1998 he released his first album, “Che fine ha fatto Lazlotòz”, for SONICA, a label of the Consorzio Produttori Indipendenti, a collection of unreleased songs, half in Italian and half in French, which saw the participation of almost all of his illustrious Italian and French friends. In 2002 it was the turn of the second album, “Rossofuoco”: this time there were a few more songs in Italian and a few less lyrics in French. The title of the album would become, from the next work, the name of the band.
“Giorgio CanaliI & Rossofuoco” is, in fact, the title of the 2004 album, published by La Tempesta Dischi, all in Italian like all those to come, followed in 2007 by “Tutti contro tutti”, dedicated to Federico Aldrovandi, the boy just eighteen years old beaten to death by truncheons and killed by the police two years earlier in Ferrara. In 2009 “Nostra Signora della dinamite” was released. The publication of the CD, which was already ready the year before, was delayed due to the coincidence with the tour of “Canzoni da spiaggia deturpata” by Le Luci Della Centrale Elettrica, an album from 2008 produced by Giorgio, who accompanied Vasco Brondi for about a hundred concerts. In 2011 it was the turn of “Rojo”, again released by La Tempesta Dischi.
Then there are years of concerts until the publication of “Perle per porci”, in 2016, for Woodworm, an album of covers of mostly unknown songs, which are a sort of anthology of Giorgio’s musical history. In October 2018, “Undici canzoni di merda con la pioggia dentro” was released for La Tempesta Dischi, which was toured for a long time throughout the peninsula. On December 4, 2020, “Venti”, the new double album, was released.
