The Panorama Day, the event that FAI – Fondo per l'Ambiente Italiano has organized since 2014 in collaboration with Fondazione Zegna to promote and spread knowledge of Italy's multifaceted panoramas, has reached its ninth edition.
An integral part of the extraordinary cultural heritage of our country, landscapes are precious elements of identity of territories and communities, as well as representing, in the vision of the FAI, an indissoluble intertwining of Nature and Culture, a collective and harmonious work of past generations left as a legacy to future ones.
This year's edition is scheduled for Sunday, September 11 and will involve fourteen properties of the Foundation in ten regions - from Trentino Alto Adige to Sardinia - to which is added the Oasi Zegna in Trivero Valdilana (BI), a large environmental and social enhancement project wanted by Ermenegildo Zegna and sponsored by the FAI. An opportunity to stop and "look around" carefully, let your gaze wander and appreciate with
more awareness of the beauty that surrounds us.
During the day, recreational and leisure activities are scheduled, but also and above all cultural activities, with themed walks and guided visits that will have as their undisputed protagonist the environmental and landscape heritage inside and outside these sites, made up of sea, mountains, villages, cultivated fields, woods and natural areas rich in flora and fauna.
A real immersion in 15 fascinating landscapes with unique features
unique, which can be viewed “from afar” but also discovered “up close” by following, if desired, the guided or suggested itineraries and which will touch the main places of interest in each territory. In case of bad weather, some initiatives may be canceled or held in a reduced form.
In Campania, Sunday 11th September will be entirely dedicated to getting to know the Ieranto Bay. Massa Lubrense (NA) and the landscape that surrounds it. A unique opportunity to enjoy its beautiful views at different times of the day, through guided trekking on the paths of the Bay, Monte San Costanzo and the territory of Massa Lubrense, and marine explorations of the stretch of sea in front of the bay, a special protection area of the Marine Protected Area "Punta Campanella".
The first appointment will be at 8.30, for a guided trek lasting about four hours, starting from the center of Massa Lubrense, in the company of the environmental hiking guide Michele Palomba of Hike&Seek, who will allow you to discover the views of the Lubrense territory and walk along the paths used by the miners of the quarry.
Italsider, to go to work at the bay. About 6 km of route with 250 meters of altitude difference – difficulty level E – that winds through the hills with a view of the northern and southern slopes of the Sorrento peninsula, up to Nerano, gateway to the Bay of Ieranto, once a village of fishermen, shepherds, farmers where the descendants of Sardinian miners still live
arrived at the beginning of the 900th century with the opening of the Italsider quarry.
The second appointment of the day is at 9:XNUMX am, in the little square in Nerano, at the Atelier with Bar of Franco Cioffi, who will introduce the observation of the landscape of the Bay from his very particular art studio. From here, you will immerse yourself in nature and the views between sky and sea along via Ieranto, the path that leads to the Bay.
At the same time, for fans of life drawing combined with the watercolor technique, Panorama Day will be the occasion for an artistic walk, with stops along via Ieranto, at the farmhouse and in the area of the former Italsider quarry, for different points of view of the Bay. The walk will end with a dive into the wonderful colors of the sea, for an immersion in the last panorama, the secret, underwater one. The artistic interventions will be followed by the itinerant drawing teacher, Alba Fagnano.
At 10.30 it will be possible to participate in marine explorations which, with kayaks and with mask and fins, will allow you to get to know the bay also from the sea and learn more about the environmental conservation work in the company of marine biologists and kayak guides from MAREA Outdoors, involved in the project La Baia at the bottom of the Path.
Also at 10.30 and 12 it will be possible to take part in a guided tour to discover the rural landscape of Ieranto: from the dry stone walls to the terraces cultivated with olive trees, from the citrus grove to the vegetable gardens. A guided kayak tour along the three kilometers of the bay's coast will accompany visitors in the warm lights of the afternoon and at 16.30 pm a sunset trek on the slopes of Monte San Costanzo, to enjoy a 360° panorama open onto the gulfs of Naples and Salerno.
All activities will be conducted for small groups (max 10 people) by sea kayak guides and environmental hiking guides, on the CAI paths between Monte San Costanzo and Monte Croce.
