The Sassari Prosecutor's Office has opened un'inchiesta on the death of Martina Berluti, 17 years old, rider of the Asd Endurance Team del Golfo di Porto Torres, who died due to the serious injuries sustained in the accident that occurred while she was training along a dirt road near the Strada dei Due Mari in Porto Torres.
The prosecutor, Maria Paola Asara, has opened a file – currently it seems without suspects – and ordered an autopsy and instructed the Sassari mobile squad to carry out all the checks to verify the dynamics of the tragedy. The investigators are acquiring the videos from the cameras in the area and some private videos.
The accident, contrary to what was initially learned, occurred on Wednesday afternoon. The young rider was training with a friend when the horse stumbled. The 17-year-old fell and the animal ended up on top of her.
The friend immediately raised the alarm. The owner of the nearby Endurance Team del Golfo riding school, the friend's mother who trained with her and 118 arrived on site. Shortly after, the helicopter rescue arrived and transported the young rider to the hospital in Sassari in desperate conditions. Unfortunately, three days later she died.
