A German tourist on holiday in Ischia was rescued yesterday afternoon and taken to hospital by helicopter after suffering anaphylactic shock from an insect bite.
The man and his wife were hiking in the upper area of the municipality of Ischia, in the Torre di Mezzo area, when he felt ill from the insect bite; he immediately took the medicines he had with him but was no longer able to return to the hotel under his own power.
118 was then alerted, whose staff reached the tourist, providing him with assistance, but the man needed thorough examinations and hospitalization. Excluding the use of an ambulance, since the area is particularly inaccessible, it was decided to resort to the fire brigade.
Those from the Ischia barracks, after reaching the place where the tourist was, sent a helicopter from Naples, the Drago 62, with which it was possible to rescue the hiker. He is still hospitalized at the Rizzoli hospital, not in danger of life.
