The City under the City is underway, starting with Capua and San Tammaro. First weekend of events for the tenth edition of the project.
The event is part of the program of regional events financed by POC Campania 2014/20. To book guided tours of the various municipalities, you can contact (until places are available) every day from 09:00 to 12:00 and from 15:30 to 18:30 3312954872 (Archeoclub d'Italia with headquarters in Santa Maria Capua Vetere).
The first weekend of events will be opened by the municipality of Capua on Friday, September 2. From 17:00 pm to 18:00 pm, guided tours of the churches of the Lombard circuit are planned: San Salvatore a Corte San Michele, San Giovanni a Corte. From 18:00 pm to 19:00 pm, guided tours of: Castello delle Pietre or dei Principi Normanni, Duomo di Capua, Chiesa dell'Annunziata, Camminamenti sotternei. The sites are all free, only the Museo Provinciale Campano remains a paid entry. For the occasion, however, visitors to “La Città sotto la Città” will pay a reduced ticket that can be purchased at the museum before the guided tour. At 20:30 pm in Piazza Commestibili there will be a tasting of typical products and, to follow, a show with Maria Mazzotta in Amoreamaro.
“This is the first real opportunity to bring together the municipalities of the Appia around a common history that we should fully reclaim” – declares councilor Veronica Iorio – "The Villani administration has worked on it since the first day of its installation, taking it all back with great collaboration from everyone. We also found the local associations, happy to be able to contribute to the realization of the project, first of all the Pro Loco, an essential point of reference for our city".
“An event that is a starting point for our city, as it opens a season full of initiatives that we are already working on with the collaboration of many professionals in the sector. The two events in September will act as a trailblazer, I am confident in the good response of the city” – declares councilor Vincenzo Corcione.
Saturday 3 September is the turn of San Tammaro. It starts at with guided tours of the Reale Tenuta di Carditello from 17:00 to 19:00. For the occasion, visitors to “The City under the City” will pay a reduced ticket, which can be purchased at the Estate before the guided tour. At 20:30 in the gallop of the Reale Tenuta di Carditello there will be tastings of typical products and, to follow, a show with Mimmo Maglionico and Pietrarsa with Fausta Venere.
“Once again the importance of Carditello for our territory is highlighted” – declares the councilor for culture, lawyer Mena Gravino – “The Administration pays great constant attention to the site, placing it at the center of all its cultural activities. Emphasis will also be given to this “Regina Viarum” project, which involves the various municipalities of the Appia”.
