Prosecutor Barbara Aprea of the Naples Public Prosecutor's Office has requested 18 years of imprisonment for Mariano Cannio, the domestic worker believed to be responsible for the murder of little Samuele.
the 4-year-old boy was dropped into the void from the balcony of the house in Via Foria where the child lived with his parents, last September 17, in Naples.
The defendant, - as Il Mattino anticipated - considered bipolar and schizophrenic but recognized as capable of understanding and willing, made do every day by offering himself as a cleaner, and had been doing so for some time also at the house of the parents of Samuel.
The trial is being held with an immediate rite and the decision of the Court will arrive soon. Certainly no sentence and conviction will be able to return the little Samuele to the affection of his loved ones. But at least the guilty will pay with several years of prison.
