Napoli. A 15-ton load of cheese was recovered, stolen last Sunday in the La Macchia service area of the Autostrada del Sole, at km 610, in the Frosinone area, with a value of 100 thousand euros. It is rennet, a particular type of cheese used to produce mozzarella.
The owner of a transport company had filed a complaint with the police. The officers of the judicial police department and of the subsection of Napoli Nord, through the analysis of images from video surveillance systems, managed to identify the vehicles used to transport the stolen cheese and reconstruct the movements.
The agents discovered that the load of rennet had been transferred to some dairies in the Caserta hinterland. The 15 tons of rennet were seized and 2 people were reported for theft and receiving stolen goods. The load of cheese was seized and made available to the judicial authorities in suitable cold storage rooms for conservation, until it is returned to its rightful owner.
