Naples. The mural dedicated to Lucio Dalla, in Naples, was erased with black spray. It was located in the historic center, in the Spanish Quarter, between Vico Concordia and Via Emanuele de Deo, near other murals that have become attractions and regular stops for thousands of tourists.
“The mural dedicated to Lucio Dalla in the Spanish Quarters has been vandalized. No one has ever touched the tributes to Camorristi and criminals”. Says the regional councilor of the Greens Francesco Emilio Borrelli who relaunches the complaint of Salvatore Iodice, the Neapolitan artist who on Tuesday presented the tribute to “O' Ppa” also in the Spanish Quarters. “Never has a mural dedicated to a Camorristi or a robber been vandalized or obscured in all these years. The memory of Lucio Dalla or Giancarlo Siani is besmirched but never anything against the scum of our city”, denounces Borrelli.
Words of condemnation for the gesture have come from many quarters, which unfortunately is only the latest in a series. “But you really can’t have the pleasure of a more beautiful neighborhood…”, is the comment on Facebook of the Miniera collective, an association committed, with various projects and initiatives, to defend, spread and re-evaluate the culture and territory of Naples.
