The high school diploma is the most requested qualification
The numbers leave no doubt: obtaining a high school diploma (maturità), in addition to being an important step in personal growth, is also essential for qualifying in the world of work. And it is necessary to be able to apply for most of the job advertisements. According to the data (updated to August 4, 2022), the high school diploma is in fact the most requested qualification overall, with 108.939 advertisements requesting it, up 9% compared to the previous month.
What happens if you don't get a diploma? With only compulsory school attendance, and therefore with a middle school diploma, the chances of finding a job are drastically reduced: there are only 459 active ads. In practice, therefore, those who today do not have a diploma risk being cut off from many professional opportunities.
How much is a degree required?
For more specialized or qualified positions, a degree is also important: there were 39.300 active job advertisements requiring it as of August 4, but the number was significantly down (-40%) compared to the previous month.
The search for professionals who have undertaken post-graduate training courses, such as masters and doctorates, also appears to be in decline. The announcements requesting a master's degree were 3.746 (-51%) and those aimed at those who have obtained a doctorate were only 30 (-43%).
Few open positions for the most specialized and highly trained figures, therefore, even if usually those who have undertaken research and in-depth courses in the field of doctorates and masters still have good employment prospects since they develop skills that can be appreciated by employers. The numbers are physiologically lower than those relating to lower qualifications.
Furthermore, more and more often, to meet the need for professionals with specific skills, companies carry out internal training dedicated to their workers, without therefore requiring specific qualifications.
